Observance of the World Day Against Child Labour

Child labour remains a critical global issue affecting millions of children, depriving them of their childhood, dignity, and fundamental rights, including access to education, health, and protection. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), over 160 million children are still engaged in child labour worldwide, with many involved in hazardous conditions. The 2025 observance of the day is crucial in light of the upcoming 2030 SDG deadline, which includes Target 8.7: the elimination of child labour in all its forms.

CDI’s Modified Theme 2025

“Let’s Accelerate Efforts” to End Child Labour by “Supporting Health, Education, Livelihood Towards Empowerment & Resilience” underscores CDI’s integrated approach, emphasizing the interconnectedness of basic services and socio-economic development in breaking the cycle of child labour.

Proposed Activities

1. Community Outreach Campaigns – poster exhibitions, and interactive sessions with children and public on the dangers of child labour and benefits of education –
2. Education Campaigns – Provide counseling for school re-enrollment and retention.
3. Children’s Empowerment Sessions

As the global community strives to meet the 2030 target to eliminate child labour, the 2025 observance is a timely opportunity to amplify efforts, bridge service gaps, and mobilize communities around a shared vision. CDI’s theme—centered on Health, Education, Livelihood, Empowerment, and Resilience—aims to transform structural vulnerabilities into opportunities for sustainable change. Together, let us reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every child enjoys a safe, healthy, and educated childhood—free from exploitation.
