World Environment Day was celebrated on June 5, 2024 to accentuate the theme: our land, our future, we are generation restoration. The programme was commemorated mostly with school students, members of children’s clubs, village folks in the tea gardens of Assam and CDI’s residential skill trainees. The event provided an opportunity to educate, deliberate and reflect upon the importance concerning environment, its protection and preservation to achieve long term environmental sustainability. Recognizing the need to educate the young ones CDI rigorously involved them, as they are the future generation and their efforts and understandings are pre-requisite to achieving desirable positive environmental changes. The occasion was able to get across the message of environmental preservation and conservation and the children understood their roles and responsibilities towards Mother Earth, and its profound synergy with human lives and diverse other creations. It was an occasion where varied groups of people came to together for an event where not only the theoretical understanding of sustainable ecological management was reached, but practical actions were undertaken in the form of tree saplings plantation and cleaning drive. It was educative, motivative and action oriented, where silent oaths were pledged to endeavour towards ecological reparation and implement environmentally sustainable practices.
