EMPOWERING WOMEN

WHO WE ARE

Centre For Development Initiatives (CDI) is the social development wing of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC), an indigenous congregation of Northeast India. Its an organization dedicated to the service of the marginalized communities especially the woman, young girls and children. It is a voluntary Non-Governmental Organization registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The task of CDI is to co-ordinate the social and developmental work of all the provinces of the Congregation and provide expertise, guidance, facilitation and animation.

THEMATIC FOCUS

Promotion of Women's Rights and Empowerment

CDI works for the empowerment of vulnerable women and young girls through social action, education, awareness, skills training, lobbying, advocacy, employment finding and placement.

Child Rights and Child Protection

Recognizing the innate vulnerability of children, and vulnerability brought about by the pressing circumstantial socio-economic situations, CDI is empowering children through informal and non- formal education system.

Micro Credit and Entrepreneurship Development

CDI promotes livelihood development and financial security through self-help groups (SHGs), skills training, and investment in start-ups and networking.

Skill Promotion through Vocational Training

The young occupies and prominent place in the heart of the CDI Partners. Skill development through Vocational Trainings are carried out in many of the centres to prevent Human Trafficking and promote safe migrants of women and young girls.

Health Care & Health Protection

CDI promotes health and fitness through free health camps; health, hygiene and nutrition awareness programmes; promotion of healthcare practices, medical referrals, counselling and direct intervention.

Care for Environment

CDI advocates for environmental preservation and protection through environmental education, sensitization programmes, prudent ecological action and sustainable eco-friendly culture.

Annual Staff Meet & Training for Capacity Building

The “Annual Staff Meet and Training for Capacity Building” was organized in CDI from December 18 to 20, 2024 with the primary intention of enhancing the competency of the staff for effective field intervention resulting in programme effectiveness, reinforcing professionalism and collaborative learning. Staff from Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, West Bengal and Assam along with the provincial councillors for social Apostolate in the provinces participated in the training.

New Year Message 2025…



Another year is at our doorstep. We step into the New Year 2025 with hope and faith, and from the MSMHC Centre for Development Initiatives (CDI), extend our warmest greetings and heartfelt wishes for peace, joy, and prosperity to all our stakeholders.

The dawn of a new year is a time for reflection and renewed commitment. Over the past year, we have journeyed together, overcoming challenges and celebrating milestones that have shaped us into a stronger, more resilient community. At MSMHC CDI, we remain steadfast in our mission to empower individuals, especially the marginalized and underprivileged women, girls and children of the peripheries, by fostering holistic development and promoting sustainable change.

In 2025, we hope to deepen our impact by expanding our reach, improving our programs, and building on our core values of compassion, service, and integrity. We envision a year where every individual we touch will feel empowered to lead a life of dignity and purpose. Whether it’s through education, skill-building, or community development, we will continue to sow seeds of hope and transformation.
